GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE
Green infrastructure is a sustainable site planning & design approach which reduces urban stormwater runoff utilizing on-site stormwater management practices. Typical implementation practices include bioretention/rain gardens, stormwater planters, infiltration trenches, pervious paving, rain water harvesting, native landscaping, conservation landscaping, and rain water harvesting. The practices are distributed throughout the site to maximize infiltration capacity with the goal to improve water quality and reduce the amount of volume which reaches the waterways.
Other practices include living walls, living shorelines, green roofs and vegetated curb extensions.
